Training at GWS
Datum: November 2022
Customer: Ministry of Defence
Activities: Training courses ILS and S-specifications
For the Ground-Based Weapon Systems department of the ministry of Defence, we provided the ILS Training Programme (Introduction & Advanced), along with an Introduction to ASD S specifications. Because several new hires recently started in this department, including those involved in the mid-life update of the Fennek reconnaissance vehicle, it was crucial to bring them up to speed in integrated logistics support. The training was conducted by three of our consultants, each bringing their own expertise and (defence-specific) knowledge, enabling them to directly link the training to the work practice of the participants.
ILS training course
André Römer led the first three days of the training, starting with introductions and an initial overview of ILS. On the second day, the ILS process was discussed in more detail, accompanied by several interactive assignments. During the ILS course, we use a LEGO Land Rovers to apply theory directly to practice.
Introduction ASD S-series specifications
Within the Defence department, there's an increasing request for S-specifications. To provide more background information to the participants, Martijn Pronk and Rico Pakvis delivered an Introduction to S-specifications. This session primarily covered the following specifications:
- SX000i
- S3000L (logistics support analysis)
- S2000M (material management)
- S1000D (documentation)
During the course, participants gained a deeper understanding of what ILS and the S-specifications are and how they are used. They also practiced with the LEGO model to apply the learned theory.
